Squidder, I am redoing a 302 and have ran into an issue. I took it apart, took pictures along the way, and then put it back together to make sure it was solid before stripping and paint. This reel never came out of free spool smoothly. Really had to crank on it to get the bail wire to go back to retrieve. Now, every 3-4 revolutions of the handle, the spool locks up. Can be moved with lots of force, I know prolly not a good idea to force it. Any Ideas? Can you PM me a quote to get this reel rolling soon? Thank you.
I use Duracoat, it lasts a lifetime. If you want to paint it I would have it bead blasted with glass beads, then sand out the imperfections (600 wet), use an epoxy self filling primer, then an epoxy emanel paint and bake the parts when done. That is how I used to do it before I switched to Duracoat. I used to paint and powder coat, but the finish will chip off after a short time. Good Luck!
