You and T.C. made the Herald-Beach Breeze newspaper. Send me your regular email address and I'll send it to you.

Fished Pate this morning for about 3 + hours. Only boat on the lake. Longlining.....two 10 inch crappie and that was it.
Went to Cerro Gordo just to check the river level. The road is flooded just before you get to the higher groud at top of the boat ramp, but was able to turn around OK. The lower ramp itself is under 6 to 8 ft of water.

    Tyler,
Been looking at the river flow from the Lake Eufaula dam for the past several days and they have been running almost wide open for a while. The dam at Chattahoochee is probably running full blast as well. Have you fished he Hooch when the river is running this strong?

Tyler, report from Pate Pond yesterday

    J. B.

    -------------------

We tried Pate yesterday and only a few boats there, most did not indicate that they were catching fish. Only bites we got were from the black dog flies. Got a big whelp right under my left ear. Anyway, caught one small bass (about 10") and that was it. Tried working live minnows, jigs, worms, minnows with jigs, and jigs with minnows. Worked NW west side hard, then about 100 feet off the bank, then went to east side and worked that hard both in close and also further out. Longlined with four rods, with various flavors of jigs, still no fish.

Went home about 3 and ate a baloney sandwich. It was nice to get out of the house though.

Thanks for the update on the area. I want to try the Black Creek area this year.

Wishing you all the best for the New Year!

Had to break message into two
While I was in Alabama I found all the ramps between Gordon and Columbia. Man, those things are mostly long and read steep. High banks up there make for sort of scary ramps. I did get a map and plot a route to Parramore Landing which is about 35 miles from where I will be staying when I'm visiting in Alabama. Have never fish there but just looking at a map the area looks more inviting than way on up the river toward Gordon, etc. I know you have fished there a lot so any helpful hints about working the area would be helpful. I have a map but it's not all that good.

In spite of the Choctaw conditions I will probably fish cats at Bull on Wednesday, just to get out of the house and on the water.

    Hi Tyler: 1 of 2

Home this afternoon after my trip up to Alabama. Events happened so I did't have a change to wet a single line in the Hooch. Things will be different next trip up there in a couple of weeks.

On the way home I stopped by Curry Landing just for a look-see. Have never been there before. On down toward Caryville I saw a boat ramp sign just before Writes Creek. It's been many years since I have been to Writes Creek by road so didn't remember anything about the area. Found the ramp which a sign said was public but it didn't have a name. It's just a short distance up the river from mouth of Write Creek. Do you happen to know it's name....Writes Creek maybe?

River was muddy and running strong at this landing. A guy and his two young sons were just coming in about 11 AM and they said the fish had lock jaw. All they caught were a couple of mud fish. They were locals.

How about you? Been beating the water anywhere?

Tyler: Has your Dad fished Pate this season?

I was there this morning and fished from 6:45 to 9:30 and got only 1 bull bream. Big ol thing but skinny. Had 2 other bites but missed them both as I was fiddling rigging up rods. I had 2 out fishing and working on the others. All this happened the first 30 minutes and then nothing until I quit at 9:30. One bass boat on the lake.

What part of the bay do you plan to fish first? I'm thoroughly familiar with the bay east of hwy 331. There are little to no grass flats in that area. Also, I have a map of the lower river and tributaries that connect to the bay if you need a copy.

Also, Copeland's Guns and Tackle is a good source for info and bait. They are about a mile south of 20 on the west side of 331

    Hi Tyler,

I went over to Caryville yesterday to check out the catfish tournament. Got a few photos...you may recognize some of the people.
Glenn Flowers did not make it. Was told he was offshore working.
Big rain came through just before daylight and was raining most of the morning. I forgot to ask how many folks were registered.
