I have two of the biggest pinfish traps sold at Sams or J&M, but one should do you. I don't know about rentals but some of the smaller traps are affordable and you can donate them to somebody when you leave. You will be close to our place so the pinfish will be thick. Crabs too.
I didn't want to derail your thread so I need some advice. Sorry to hear about your trap, people like that need some type of punishment for their actions of destruction. I can only assume that you will repair, if repairable, your trap, or if not replace it. I'm in the market for a bait trap, so what is your advice on what I should get. I will be doing both Bay and Gulf fishing when I get down there. I know that shrimp traps are kind of special so those are usually out. Pinfish traps are pretty common so what size do I need for two guys to fish for 2-3 dozen pinfish/pigfish a day. I'll be using it in the bay just east of Florabama on a condo dock, waters about 3-4ft deep average. I also am interested in a blue crab trap. What we don't use for live bait on crabs/pinfish etc, we"ll freeze for later use as dead bait. We'll be down there for a month in August, another question is does anyone rent these things for vacationers like us? Hey thanks for the advice, appreciate it.
Sorry About not Chatting with you out there. We don't fish much with-in 30 miles for a reason. Just a hour before you came out with your wife we had a boat park very close to us and even drifed across our anchor line pulling us off the spot we were on. and then that large charter boat pulled with-in 50 feet of us. We are normally very friedly and go out of our way to help someone catch fish if we can. But you just caught us on a off day. Again sorry for us not wanting to talk. Gene
Saw your X-Mas Eve skunked post. My buddy and I fished Blackwater that day and had a tough go of it, although we saw tons of fish. Went over and looked around in Escambia Bay. Caught bulls all day under pelicans. The fish weren't on top though. Makes me think the lack of rain and clear water in Escambia pushed the bulls up there. I'd heard there weren't many along the beaches lately, this may be why.
