I have been a bream guy all my life but catch an occasional crappie, cat, and bass. However, this year I intend to concentrate some on crappie and in the Choctawhatchee River. Even bought some cold weather foot gear while I was in Texas.
Crappie are scattered around the panhandle in various rivers and lakes but the most popular places are Lakes Seminole and Talquin. Seminole is over at Sneads and Talquin is further down the road and south of Tallahassee. These are huge lakes. I have fished them a couple times each but don't know really how to fish big lakes. People catch crappie in the rivers during the winter but so far as I know there is not a lot of pressure. I will be checking with a couple of guys here in De Funiak that fish the Choctawhatchee a great deal and see what they can tell me about crappie.
I get down to Bass Pro a couple times a month. Maybe we could meet there one day and have coffee nearby and talk fishing. I'm retired and ready to fish just about any time.
