I am not much of a snapper fisherman and haven't done any in a long time, but I have caught a few close to Fort Pickens east of the Ft. Pickens pier and between the old coast guard station. You will want to drift or ride slowly about 50-75 yards from the shore and you need to stay in water that is from 40-45 feet. You will occasionally see some small structure on the bottom. When you see it, mark it and come back to it. I've caught grouper and snapper by just drifting baits on the bottom with the current along the track I just described without the aid of a bottom machine. You can also catch bull reds and an occasional snapper by drifting the pass with live bait or cut menhaden. Hope this helps and enjoy your vacation.
