I was on the river today fishing mullet. After I finished that I decided to take a ride. The boat traffic was not as heavy as I expected for a holiday. I left the mouth of the Choctaw and went all the way up to Smokehouse, then back down the river and cut over to Mitchell River, then Rushing Cutoff to Black Creek and the landing. I saw two boats fishing bream and one fishing bass in all that distance. I did see 5 or 6 down at the mouth/delta area fishing specks and reds. Ran into owner of the landing and he said it has been really tough for bass and bream for many weeks. I don't know what's going on but this is the second year in a row fishing has been way off during the summer.
Just curious, how did the tournement go at Cowford a couple of weeks ago?
I was down at the river mouth yesterday fising for red and specks. After a couple of hours and only one short red we went to a mullet hole for some meat. Got 14 which was plenty for our needs.
