| I know it is not a big storm, but this will be the first we have been in with a boat. a 22 ft bay boat kept on a trailer. Is it ok to leave it parked on the trailer? Should I hook it up to the truck? I guess I am over reacting, but i cannot imagine anything happening to my boat! We live on Wolf Bay in Alabama.

It's not going anywhere in less than a Cat 3. I own a 19' WA and just leave it alone. When Ivan (cat 3) came, I put it against the opposite side of the house where the house would block some wind. But that's it. Do not put water in it and plug it up. The water weight from that and all the rain will put undue stress on the deck and other compartments. And also just make sure that it is where a tree can not fall on it.

I'd say make sure you have anything loose tied down or stoed away and make sure the strap is on it holding to trailer and the tires are chocked. In this storm, I think your only real risk is a tree or limb falling on it or something blowing out. Last year one of the storms caused my 120 qt cooler to be a casualty.

Over here in Poly Isle it seems everyone is leaving their boats on their lifts (unless they are planning on taking them out tomorrow). I wimped out and just pulled my 22' pathfinder out of the water and have it strapped down to cement anchors I put in a few months ago in the trailer in the driveway. Felt kinda goofy being the only one pulling my boat out but this could be my first real storm too so I guess I'm playing better safe than sorry.

| For this storm, we are leaving one boat on the lift,one in the water, with a spring anchor to keep it way from the dock, and the other on a trailer. If any canvas is loose, it is removed. All items which may blow away are fully secured. Anticipate 6 to max 8 foot storm surge. The gulf has cooled, and the storm should weaken as it nears land. Surge, rain as well as wind will be the issues.

Like stated above, just stow or remove loose items, take down enclosures or any other canvas that would catch the wind, make sure your scuppers are not clogged, large amounts of water accumulating in your boat is not good . Ours is staying on the rack, just taking the enclosure down in the morning...
