GREAT NEW PHOTOS

Here SHE is!  As you scroll down, notice the two twin towers on top.

Here SHE is, the USS New
York, made from the
World
Trade
Center !

USS
New York
It was built with 24 tons of
scrap steel from the
World
Trade
Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship -
designed for missions that include special
operations against terrorists. It will carry a
crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines
to be delivered ashore by helicopters and
assault craft.

Steel
from the
World
Trade
Center was melted
down in a foundry in
Amite, LA  to
cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured
into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough
steelworkers treated it with total reverence,'
recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there.

'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that
when the trade center steel first arrived, he
touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my
neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for
all of us,' he said.. 'They knocked us down. They
can't keep us down. We're going to be
back.'

The
ship's motto?

'Never Forget'

Please keep
this going so everyone can see what we are made
of in this country!

 AWSOME!!!!!

Saw the first of that class in Mayport a while back...looks really weird...but then again..I'm a cruiser sailor

She will be a great ship, manned by great young American heroes.  In the world of computing, everyone seems to have a "signature.    Here are two of my all time favorites.

"A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it."

"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."

Sharp.  Don't think that I'd want to be out on the weatherdecks when that battle ensign is flying though.

I think that was the ship at nas p cola a few months ago. Shure looked like it. It was coming from la. going to somewhere up north. You couldnt get to close to it nor did you want to. Awsome ship with many gadgets. Should see it in person to appreciate!
