| My cousin came into town from St. Louis and we decided to do a little shark fishing. This was my first attempt at it so I wasnt too sure what to expect. Started at 8pm using some cut up lady fish. We had one bite, but missed it and then decided to put on some hard tails we had caught earlier that day. That seemed to do the trick. My cousin caught this nurse shark right around 11pm. I've been telling him how great Florida fishing is ever since I've been living here, and he finally experienced it first hand. Even though he pulled in the only shark of the night , I found out how intense shark fishing can be. I had one on that spooled me in about 15 seconds. We probably had 4-5 other times throughout the night when a shark ran with the bait, but couldnt hook them. I obviously need a larger reel with more line capacity and I also found out steel leaders with swivels attached do not hold up well verses a sharks mouth. We lost 3-4 hooks that were chewed right off of the snap swivels. With the proper tackle, I think we could have caught a few more. It was definitely a blast and look forward to future nights of shark fishing!

By the way, we did release him to be caught another day.
