THe wife wants to have me paint the big ass brick frieplace in our house. Basicallly I have found how to clean it and prime it. THe one thing I would like to do is just tone the bricks down rather than full blown paint job. They are not so dark they kind of look like a knock off of old Chicago stlye. I looked a Lowes yesterday but things where a bit vague. If I could find some kind of opaque white ish covering to put on it may do the trick. I am not sure if this would be a glaze. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| I just Google searched "Painting brick fireplace" and there was more shit about painting brick fireplaces there than I would of thought. Tell your wife it can't be done or your fishishing time is in seroius jepedary for the next few weekends. where does it end? ........landscaping?, gutter cleaning?,.................Christmas Lights? RUN MAN, RUN FAST.......NO ONE HERE WILL TELL HER THAT WE HAVE SEEN OR EVEN TALKED TO YOU............(just kidding be careful with those Christmas lights)..................Hope this helped some, DENNIS

| I did the same thing to my wife's liking. We used a product called "Emulsa-Bond" by Flood Company. She had it tinted at the paint store to match the look she wanted and then lightly applied it with a small sponge to about 1/3 of each brick face then brushed it with a large wallpaper brush to smooth it out. It took the brick from dark pink color to a tan/light pink/off white. Was real easy and only cost about $12.00 for a quart. I only used about a cup for about 400 brick. This stuff is made as a primer but works real well like this.

| You can also go to DIY.com and type in what you what to do. They give you pretty good advise also.
