Hey guys this is Pennremasterd. I bought a Penn 706z from Member ---->..booboo
This guy tells me the reel is in good/great shape. First he charges me $20 bux for shipping when it costed him 10 bux and change. When I get the reel. It looks like it has been sitting in Saltwater, since it was taken out of the box. PITTED EVERYWHERE. eaten apart all over. Rust coming out of spots I didnt even think rust could build up. The sideplate was plastic!!! The spool was destroyed!!! The part where the drag washers goes was soo pitted the c ring doesnt stay in. The drag knob was cracked an broken. It was not even a 706z top. Its from another penn series. not the z or spinfisher series. Also the thing was put together with broken left over peices. Then I start to dissemble it. And there are screws that were broken into the housing. That hold the bearing plate inplace. I Cannot even get them out. The heads are broken off.
JUST BE AWARE THAT THIS GUY IS A FAKE, AND LIKES TO TAKE PEOPLE FOR THERE MONEY!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!iT IS

| I"m not taking sides, but its kinda like EBAY when you have'nt seen the product in person... The shipping cost could be for packing materials, and not just postal shipping..When buying from a forum member, I also always look at there posting, see if there always buying or selling stuff...

Thank you. He called me a yankee and said Ill come meet you and kick my ass. Then asks me to send my reel back and he will send my money to me. Yeah right. Take both the money and the reel probably. He shows you a nice reel and then sends a POS. I thank you for your efforts and appreciate the help.

| I am sorry to hear someone had a bad experience. I bought a boat from Boo Boo yesterday and it was exactly as advertised. We had a pleasant visit and talked a lot about fishing. My take is that he is an ardent fisherman. We looked at his flats boat and his Mako he is rebuilding. My experience with him has been positive and he knows a lot about fishing, which he is willing to share. Tom 850-572-1225

i could probably find the thread but, i don't want to. chris couture laid some ground rules for "before you can start posting for sale items" and as i remember it was a 20 post min. not 20 visits...20 posts...and as i recall, booboo and others come out of the chute selling... "this is not e-bay"

Mike's right - I don't care if the guy is honest as the day is long. If your sole purpose is selling stuff - go to ebay. The sales area is more for forum member's conveninence - it's not a freakin' retail outlet.

I thought it was interesting when he bought those 80W Penn Combos on this forum & then posted them for sale here the next week at roughly twice the price he paid... Not that I'm against capitalism-(as I like to make a little money as much as the next guy), but I just thought that was a little over the top... When someone questioned his 'ethics or motives'(or whatever), he responded in a rather threatening matter..i.e.= "if you've got a problem w/me let's meet in person so I can straighten you out" or something like that... Hope you get your refund... Sounds like you've got very little left to lose- as the reel isn't fishable from your description...

man i hate you had a bad experience with him. i have met him several times and is a stand up guy. i am sure if you give him a chance he will make it right for you. hey bubba if chris reconsiders and puts you back on, put up some of those awesome fishing reports too. good luck and i hope this situation can be fixed so everyone is happy.

He wont make anything right. Look at what he did. I will post pics of the reel and you guys can judge for yourself. It is sad to think a fellow fisherman would do such a thing. I cant believe people sometimes. I have always bought reels online, and never had a problem like this before.

| I hate that you had a bad experience with this gentleman. I know him personally and have bought and traded rods and reels with him. My 13 year old son has even bought his own rod with his yard mowing money from him and received a very nice custom cobia/ king rod from him and has plans to purchase another when he saves up his money. I have fished and floundered with him as my boat is in the shop. I know Chris has rules laid down especially on the networking forum especially where it says no bashing. If you approach him correctly I know that he will deal with you respectfully. But you made the remark about send him the money back and he will send you the reel, "Yeah keep the reel and the money," Your calling someone a theif and Chris has removed him from the forum and that is unfortunate that he is not allowed to defend himself nor has Chris spoken to him in person or on the phone. I would say that there are 2 sides to every story. As for reselling something you bought from someone else I might buy a rod and reel combo from someone just for the reel, and then sell the rod for what it is worth to me because I don't need it. Stop attacking someone from behind and find out all the facts first. If he offered to make it right take him up on it and if he doesn't then you can call him a thief. Play fair guys and fish fair. Keep only what you need and release the rest for another day. fishindad1

Ok, not choosing sides her either, and fully expect to be bashed by Penn. But let's all relax here and take a deep breath. Penn have you asked Boo to make this right, without all the harsh talk or accusations ? I don't even know the guy, but I know oldflathead and if he vouches for him then I would have to say he is a stand up guy. I doubt anyone would risk being thrown off this forum over $20.00. My suggestion is give him the opportunity to make it right "Hey I don't like the reel I think I was misled will you give my money back" ? Simple as that. Anyway, my .02 worth for whatever it is worth.

| good question how much did he charge for the reel the photos are as crappy as the reel if the deal is too good to be true it usually is maybe you can at least get some good parts off it. i would be mad to if i got a piece of crap reel good luck with that i hope he does the right thing

And as far as if pennmaster tried to work it out, as in his above qoute, the guy said he would kick his ass....according to Pennmaster ofcourse. Again, not taking sides, but he did answer some of the questions you guys have asked. I would hope boo boo finds a way to contact him, IF those are the pics of the reel he sold him, and peacefully refund his money, since it seems a lot of you know boo boo, and say he is not a shady guy.

| I got no dog in this fight either, but there is something really fishy here!! Why would a guy try to sell a totally trashed out corroded piece of junk like you are trying to say those out of focus parts came out of??? And why couldn't you just show the entire reel instead of some very poor closeups that are so out of focus that you can hardly tell what part they are?? Man, there isn't anything sensible here that I can see! Apparently you and he have some issues but I wonder if they are about a bad reel deal or something else?? There seems to be more to the story than we have heard so far, in my opinion.

First off those pics are from my camera on my fone. 2nd. I took the reel apart cuz that is what you do when you get them. So you can see the dmaage from the saltwater and to start cleaning them out for restoration. As you see from those pics that the reel is done! It is garbage to me. I paid him $120 upfront. I can show you a pic of the reel he sent me as a photo too. Ill take pics frommy camera when i get home today from work. I cant believe people would sit here and think im lieing. I dont understand why people would think im sitting here stirring shit up. I just showed you the proof. If you really want me to i could put the reel back together and you can see how Fckued it is.

| For $120, I would expect it to look a lot better than that. But, why would you state that you can't believe people would think you are lying ? You've only had 11 posts. It's not like you are a long-time member that people know. People lie on the internet all the time. Not saying that you are lying, just saying that it happens and people are cynical because it happens so often. You said he charged you $20 shipping. Who lives out of town, you or him ? If he posted a picture of a different reel, that's just out and out fraud.

| all i can say is these folks coming on here defending him as an outstanding fisherman, friend, etc. haven't been hosed by the guy yet...the administrator has taken care of him so i'd eat my buck twenty and chalk it up to experience... take that picture if you want to drive the point home further...and post it...i just hate to see this kind of thing happen to people...

i don't know about yall, but he wouldn't rip off anyone. i've been dealing with this guy not only business wise but as well as personally. i gotta say he is the kinda guy to be brutally honest about how he feels. if he cussed you out and told you he's gonna whoop your ass, you probably deserve it. anyone to call bubba a bullshiter must not know him. last time i checked, new yorkers ARE yankees. i've seen all of this guy's inventory and he's not likely to be bullshitting about the gear he sells. i don't feel it's fair to call a guy in the middle of the night and call him an ignorant hick and so forth. then have him kicked off the forum because you're too irresponsible to buy a product you haven't even seen a picture of.
