Made one of my trips down to the Texas coast on 11-8 to get in on the fall Redfish action.

FRESH mullet and FRESH shrimp were by far the best baits. We were fishing the mullet for reds and fooling around with the shrimp on bait rods. Well they liked the shrimp too and made for some long interesting fights on 10-12lb tackle. Did I say the bait had to be fresh? Several other yaks in the same area were using frozen and got outfished 5-1

Most of my trips down there I seem to get blown out by heavy surf but hit Saturday just right

Also caught a little Silky shark on a casted bait (whiting) from the beach. I KNOW about the reel in the sand..Dang line broke just above the leader at the surf line..panicked to land it for a pic 

Not as pretty as the panhandle but for it's only half the distance for me!

Dreaming of next June...

All reds and sharks were CR or CPR'd.. The dang Gafftop catfish were thick and most were studs!!! some up to 7lbs... Me: May have a slot red!!!. Buddy: Doubt it yeah right..catfish
