I have a 9.9 mercury that won't spit water out. Checked the impeller and it was bad put everything back together and went for a test ride and still wasn't working I can feel it trying to suck in the intake but it won't spit it out! Anyone know what else I should check?

Possibly a gasket in the wrong place or the impeller key slipped out. If all that is good, is the motor overheating? It may be some debris in the tale-tell and needs to be blown out (back blown).

DOUBLE "D" & LV (10/13/2008) Possibly a gasket in the wrong place or the impeller key slipped out. If all that is good, is the motor overheating? It may be some debris in the tale-tell and needs to be blown out (back blown).I blew into the hose where the water is supposed to spit out and it goes all the way through!

Pull the foot off and recheck what was done. May find your answer. Seen it many times where the gasket was swapped or the key had fallen. Also could be the water tube was not aligned or the grommet for the tube was missing.

I had the same problem about a month ago. Come to find out the line was full of love bugs.
