To everyone bashing on this tread you are no more than lazy arm-chair fisherman and your just mad because you have  never caught a tarpon and some one else is getting all this glory who cares he took the tarpon out of the water if he wanted he could have let it die and pushed the fish over the side and he wouldn't have broken any laws when you have a tag you can kill your one for the year..because you know that if you ever had the chance to catch one you wouldn't give a flying flip about the fish you would be more worried about getting those pics to prove it! And yes it is a great catch considering,, well for one thing it looks like it was at the 22 bouy which is in the middle of the dang bay and second he was shark fishing!!!! but it's not all that rare there is alot more tarpon in this area than most people think...and before you go bashing me yes i have caught my share of tarpon.....

WOW!! Settle down there brother. Getting all huffy. We know you can fish!

Capt Rivers please at least tell the forum members the truth. I was fishing the shark hole when you hooked up on the tarpon and later landed the fish. I saw you tow the fish some 400 yards back to Capt.George P. Ballards boat to take pictures and you informed me you were a Capt. and knew what you were doing. You did not have a Tarpon tag on your boat, it was Capt.George P. Ballard that yelled out he was in possession of the tarpon tag, so with that being said, yes what you did was ILLEGAL

George yelled out to you that "he" meaning me had a tarpon tag.  Yes, you did see me "towing" the fish to revive him.  I was bringing the fish over to Capt. Ballard's boat to borrow a camera.  I saw you come up on my starboard side, and I waved you off, because the fish was on the starboard side.  You yelled that what I was doing (catching a tarpon?) was illegal, but then you took off, before anyone could tell you differently. Had you stuck around, you would have seen that the fish was released unharmed, and you could have enjoyed the boy's excitement with the rest of us.

Now can we please get back to enjoying fishing and stop worrying about everybody's business?

I would like to thank everyone on the forum for all the nice comments and feedback. I don't really mind some of the negative stuff that got brought up, because this site is also for learning.

Mr. Triton, you are mistaken in what you have said. Your actions of running up to Capt. John's boat were uncalled for,as was your rhetoric & accusations in front of his clients.I yelled out to you  that HE, meaning Capt. Rivers, had a tarpon tag.I was yelling this out as you sped off in your boat so you obviouly did not hear what I said. If you had stopped & watched you would have seen Capt. John take a few photos & then release the fish in great shape. I hope you go back and read Mr. Coture's post and apologize to  Capt. John and all the good forum members for your slanderous accusation before you get banned from the forum! Posts like yours & some others are the reason many of us DO NOT POST reports on this forum.      Capt.George P. Ballard

This is truly unbelieveable, Cap'n Rivers....and Cap'n George, my neighbor so to speak at the corner!!

When does this idiocy end.....???

I apologize again for the anal comments from a select few, I can only assume that there are too many people that don't filter their water before they drink it!

Please stop, let's move on.....
