We're taking the suggestions from the above topic & working on them today....

The wiring & connections look good. Next we go to check the auto fuse... but the question is: Where is that fuse?!!!! Scott traced the wiring and all that and can't find one..?!

Edit - forgot to add this: The float switch is more like a magnet in a cube...?!!

Just because it should be fused, dosen't mean it is fused.

In following the wire, where did it up? One wire goes to the pump. where did the other go. If it is a factory install it could be fused to the manual side which you said does work. If you have a meter or test light, check for voltage into the switch and then out when you raise the switch. If you can.

One to the pump and the other to the battery...

I think we are going to get a whole new switch that has the auto option & redo the wiring to bypass our manual switch for the 2000.

If it's connected to the battery then I think it is safe to assume the switch is bad. Go to West and get the switch that X Shark put the picture of. The blue inclosed switch by Rule. And put a fuse in line, 5,7,10 amp depending on the pump.

Thanks SOS!

From what I've been hearing today, most boats have a 3-way switch at the helm for their bilges. (?) We just have 2 single 2-way toggles = on & off. ((which makes my brain even foggier on the whole idea of auto feature in the beginning...lol..))

Anyway, we went and got a new floating switch & a new panel switch that has on, off, auto, fuse holder, & light. We picked up a pack of 5 amp fuses for it. We're in the process of installing it now -

Just did..Thanks for the link...

The 2000 is sitting higher than the 1100.. so change in plans...we're going to wire it to the 1100. I'll go to the link you posted and check fuse for an 1100...

It calls for a 6amp fuse.

You might think about installing a High Water alarm in the circuit with the 2000 pump. You will need another float switch to operate the alarm & pump.

There are plenty of boats that could have been saved if this was installed.

The subject comes up every time we have one take on water.

A float switch to turn it on, a Piezo horn to make loud sounds and still be small to tuck away and it could also have a idiot light in the system also.

I wired a high water alarm to my "highest" bilge pump. This pump only comes on if another one fails, or major flooding(hasn't happened yet...knock on wood)  When the float switch for the pump gives power to that pump it also gives power to a piezo buzzer under my dash.  You could hook an idiot light as well.

I bought a 12 volt piezo buzzer at radio shack and put it behind my dash.  It's SO loud even behind my dash, I wrapped it in duct tape to dampen the buzzer.  It's been installed now for 5 years or so, no problem with corrosion yet.  I check it every trip by lifting the float switch before I launch.

Yes that is the same horn I've used. The little tabs make it easy to mount.

Ok I get that...I will do this for sure but I'm mounting my pump right next to the other one (at the bottom of my hull) and my auto on switch will be mounted higher.
