| ive been seein all the meaningless questions all over the fishing part of the forum lately. i guess its just cause everyone is bored and wants to start some convos. well i think this question is really good for our little hunting community. i know there are a few beginners on here and im sure the vets could always use some new info as well. you never know, there could be some new things that you havent even heard of. What do you think is the best new advancement or invention in hunting in the past, hmmm, 5 years?? they dont necessarily have to be invented in the past 5 yrs but have changed hunting for the better in the past 5, 7 or 10yrs there have been alot of things that have changed the sport of hunting dramatically so if you can think of something thats beneficial, add it to the list!!!! --- My vote has to be the Game Camera. im sure there are plenty of yall that will have to agree with me on this one. it has changed my hunting dramatically. now i can know the size and amount of bucks that frequent my area. IMO that helps out QDM alot. it also can show you the travel routes the deer use and help you fine tune your stand placement. not to mention it scouts for you!! you can scout year around with minimal intrusion and very little scent contamination!!

I second the game camera. I have a buddy in south Florida that will put out 20 camera's in an area he's see's a big buck in. He then compare's location's and the time of day where that particular deer is moving and set's up accordingly. I wouldn't want him after ME! The thermacell has it's highpoint's also.

If THERMACELL is that good, I just might have to invest in a couple for camping. Usually are not bothered with insects as of the time of year we go, but still might be nice to have. On a scale of 1 to 100, how effective are they.

I use the pads a few times until they dry out vs. change em out evrytime! Def a good investment.

| Sorry, I'm not convinced that insect repellant (ThermaCell) is the 'best invention' in past 5 years for deer hunting. I've never had a skeeter problem in the middle of the winter. Now, bow season, that can be hit and miss with skeeters...but most of the time not a problem unless I'm around a swamp. I'd go with Quality Deer Management (QDM) and the game cam. Oh, I'm trying that vanilla extract for a cover scent this year. I've read up and it sounds worth a shot cause every other thing I do doesn't seem to work.

I'm new to the forum but not short on opinions. How about getting hunting licenses on-line.
