Most Meds won't sew a marine injuy , especially from an oyster. The Vibrio and other bacterium that are prevalent here cause a whole new approach to treating marine injuries.

I have freind who after two months inthe hospital (13 surgeries in 26 days) might go home this weekend. He will keep his foot/leg and is lucky to be alive. I hope you told your Dr. that it was a marine injury. If not, keep a close Eye on it and don't delay another trip. Key words: marine/ Vibrio. It is here.

I was thinking the same thing! Keep an eye on it!!! A cut like that on oysters could cost you your life! There are some nasty things in the ocean!

Pardon the pun, but... I bet that'll leave a mark!  Ouch!

Yup , thats goin to leave a mark.

Please keep an eye on it for any swelling or redness , fever , stiff neck, anything  at all , get it checked out even if you think it's nothing. My X spent 5 days in isolation at Baptist from a barnacle scrape that didn't look nutin like that.

Y'all need to Google the Center for Disese Control and enter Vibrio.

There are basicly 2 types and they are prevalent here(and elswhere there is warm salty water and probably people).

Interestingly women are seldom victims. Probably from a more limited exposure, but also their hormones attack it. Imagine that!

Also, It is found mostly in men over 50.Especially those prone to drinking or w/ diabetes.

It can kill in 24 hrs. Most local emergeny centers need to be informed by the patient of this risk.

I've seen it twice. Once was a man who used to fish the bridge and scraped his shoulder while cast netting bait at the trestle. The, other is my freind who poked his leg w/ a crab trap.(or crab).

I can't remember how to spell it.... but be VERY watchful for red streaks running up your arm. My X was windsurfing back when... and he was coming back in... in knee deep water over at Garcon Point... and something cut the top of his foot. 3 days later.. after going to the ER twice... he was admitted into the hospital (stay was 2 wks and 48k later, back in 92) with sumunomis(sp) poisoning. THAT was some NASTY stuff.. and very hard to cure.
