| Ok I know this is a long shot but this is at the request of my wife...and she has my boat keys ....lol J/K they were the house keys. Anyway My wife has a event coming up soon that she wants to look cute for and buy a new outfit..however she is very dissatisfied with herself and wants to loose a "few lbs". We have looked all over the "net" and every page contradicts the previous one so just thought for ha ha's I would ask here who knows someone on here might be a fitness buff. She seems to have alot of water retention and is mainly looking for things to target her legs, hips, thighs, belly. She has a eliptical machine but not sure if she should do light ressistance for time or heavy ressistance till fatuige. anyway I hope somene on here either know something about this or maybe your wives do.....(she is a little on the un-modivated side also) mainly because of being unsure what will have the most effect. She has cut cokes allmost completly ...think she had a half of one today and she is allready drinking around 64 ounces of water per day So if anyone can help I would definatly owe you one. Thanks in advance for even reading this whole post Mike

Tell her to go see my wife at Dr. Gordon Couch's office. He is a Gynecologist but, he also has started a weight loss thing too. It is completely out of pocket for most! I think it is $75 to start with and then $35 a month after that! They take you blood pressure and other stuff and then, they give you a prescription for weight loss drugs! I personally have taken Phentermine 37.5 and that was awesome! I am +/- 350 lbs and when I first took it I lost 40lbs in 4 months. I literally had to make myself eat! It does get you all hopped up though, that first weekend I got so much done! I had energy that I have never had! That only bad thing about that drug is that the body will build up a tolerance to it which, is why I gained mine back! If I would have started exorcising then I probably would still be losing it! By the way, that was all I did. I never exercised and never changed the way I ate! Good Luck

I could write a A LOT on this subject but it's best go here and read:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/index.html
One thing to remember. No gimmick will make her lose weight. Humans only lose weight by burning more calories then they take in. 3500 calories is equal to one pound of fat on the human body. Therefor if she takes in 500 calories per day less then she consumers, at the end of one week (500x7=3500) she'll have lost one pound.
Here is how calories break down:
Fat: 1 gram = 9 calories
Protein: 1 gram = 4 calories
Carbohydrates: 1 gram = 4 calories
Alcohol: 1 gram = 7 calories
If she wants to lose weight she should stick to a good amount of lean protein, moderate carbs, low fats, almost no sugar. Only take in fat that is liquid at room temp. Things like olive oil. She should be eating lots of very small meals everyday. Not large meals. If she starves herself it will cause her metabolism to slow greatly. Making it harder for her to lose weight. Oh yea, and make sure all drinks are 0 calories. Things like water, crystal light, diet sodas (try not to drink too much).
How you eat is about 60-70% of how you look. The rest is working out. I'm a strong believer that running/jogging at a pace that keeps the heart rate up is the best way to stay lean. It also tones the body. Read up for more info at bodybuilding.com.

| Blake is right. The healthy and best way to lose weight is slowly and safely. . . 1lb per week. Less calories & exercise. Burn more than she consumes. A person also has to burn fat layers in order to see a better "tone" and definition - cardio is the key here. I will admit to taking Lipo 6, other thermogenics, & some BSN stacks some weeks for a boost in my routine. They make you piss like a horse & keeps you pretty "cleaned out" too. Some people can gripe and complain about taking them but I like them & will continue to buy them as needed. Good luck to her. It takes patience & determination. =)

| Lots of ways to lose weight and for the vast majority of them, the weight comes right back. Takes a major life style change to lose the weight and, more importantly, keep it off. Step one should be checking with your family doctor to ensure health is good enough to exercise. And exercise can be anything from a daily walk to spin classes or .... Then get with someone who can help talk you through developing a sensible plan. Need to look at nutrition (diet) and exercise (duration, intensity, variety, and maintainability). Once a plan is developed, need to stay with it. I did the above, lost 30 pounds over 5 months then thought I could back off into a maintenance program. Regained 20 pounds over 4 months which told me my maintenance program was too 'comfortable'. So back to the orginal plan. Do not know of any way to spot lose weight. Need to tone up the entire body and while that is happening, understand it doesn't come off everywhere equally. Fat is deposited in certain locations first then in other locations. And comes off pretty much the same way. So stick with the plan - don't weigh your self every day - causes a lot of negative thoughts. Once a week for a weigh in is a good idea. Good luck!!

| Walk everyday about 10 miles to get your heart rate going. Drink plenty of water. Water is the key and exercise. Small portions at meal time. No snacking

| I agree with most people on this thread (even though my out of shape fat ass shouldn't comment on it) 4-5 smaller meals throughout the day instead of 3 big meals...if she wants a snack eat some fruit cut out the sodas...shes on the right track (i drink about a 12pack of Dr pepper a day) excercise....walking does great lots of water stay with it and good luck to her
