| i figure this is worth a shot... if anyone has an idea of who is throwing the fish carcasses in the dumpster at beach marina, could you please ask them to stop.... seeing as how we have a SW wind pretty much every afternoon during the summer, the smell of that nasty crap passes the nasal openings of every single person who drives onto the beach.... even though it's only for a few seconds, the crap is gross, and as much as the tourists get in the way, i'm sure they don't like that the first thing they smell when they get to the beach is rotting snapper bodies. thanks in advance,

Quicdraw (8/18/2008) you need to talk to the management they tell the charter boats to put them in the dumpsterI am just wondering why they would tell them to put carcasses in the dumpster and not back in the water. The smell would be gone and the scavengers could eat.

They used to dump them off Bob Sykes so the carcasses were'nt surfacing all around the marina.

| All the marinas over here in OB tell them the same thing. The reason being that the carcasses will sink at first but usually end up floating up around the dock and stinking the marina up. Instead they pass the misery on to passers by.

sounds like a "chum" business waiting to open. most boats come in around about the same time, dont they? couldnt someone hang out and gather up the carcasses, grind them, freeze them in blocks and sell them to the local bait shops? would that work? or is it too much trouble for too little $$$$.

| I have also thought about "chum" production at marinas. How about a coin/dollar operated grinder. The fishermen who clean fish at the dock would be mandated to use it. They would place the left overs in the grinder, insert a $5.00 bill and turn their trash into chum. The machine would then dispense into plastic bags for the fishement to take home and freeze. The next time out, they would not have to stop and buy chum, they would use what they produce. It would make for a "Green Marina". I googled and looked and could not find this machine, however, I believe it would be a hit at every marina. Santa Rosa Marina does have a grinder, but the product emtys into the sewer system.
