I was supposed to be coming down thi friday to fish Mexico beach. It looks as if TS/Hurricane Fay should have made landfall by Tuesday or Wednesday depending on how far north she makes it before hitting. How detrimental is a storm to the fishing a few days afterward. I know Katrina and Ivan devatsted it, but it looks like Fay will be MUCH more calm and miss the area. Does a hurricane in the gulf mess it up for the whole gulf, or just the areas hit?

If Kay comes this way we have problems. She was in the pacific in 2004. Now I have no idea what Fay will do.

| OK. Got me there... If FAY goes on the planned track, will it screw the fishin in Mexico Beach Port St Joe areas this weekend. I have never fished (saltwater) this late in the season, so I have never had to worry about it.

Generally speaking, fishing after a hurricane is as good as it gets; grouper (25#+) off the jetties and piers, etc.
You never know until you go.

| Thanks. I was starting to wonder if anyone had an opinion on this. I was getting worried that it was the end of the world. I have never known this forum not to be full of opinions of some sort! I would hate to come down to "try" if it was an all around bad idea... I can only afford to bring the boat down once or twice a year. I dont want to blow half a years fishing buget on a bad week. hahaha

| I always thought fishing was better after a hurricane. I don't think Fay is going to be that big an event though.

| The weather is not too bad here just a little wind here and there. Went out yesterday caught a couple of specks and a flounder and then went over and got my limit on scallops. The problem is cleaning them and having a few beers. But Heck that's the fun of it . knowing you can go to Joe Patty's and buy all you want for what we spend down here. Just bought a new GPS and been having a ball with it finding the channels ,drop offs etc.etc.
