| I don't know where you are located but here in Destin, the flounder migrate to the Gulf at about the same time that Snapper season closes....... Later still, grouper might move into shallower water and the bay..... So, IMHO, the end of snapper season is not my reason to stop fishing..... I never do....
The more I learn about women, the more i love my boat.

Not sure what public wrecks are out over that way but we've caught plenty on public wrecks out of pensacola. But they were a lot of smaller ones. If you can get some live bait, drop it down on a carolina rig. You should see fish on the finder above the wreck. Drop it down about that far. If there are some legal ajs you should get them.
Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. Psalms 25:4-7

| GROUPER? I didnt know they came into shallow water how deep do you have to be to catch grouper i thought it was pretty deep I am fishing the public tanks 20 or so miles out any where from 85 to 100 feet deep, but back to the aj's i have learned on here that they stay around verticle structure i wouldnt think tanks would be verticle enough for them is this correct or not and are jigs the best way to catch them or would live bait be a good way. jason

For aj's, the williamson jigs are great to use. A little cheaper route would be to use a lazertail on a big 6oz. jig head.

| There are tons of black snappers around here so they should be on those army tanks also. No season on them and five per person limit so if you target them you should be able to put some in the cooler. Just take whatever you can scrounge up for chum, menhaden northern mackeral etc. and anchor upcurrent and chum the fish up. Fifteen to Twenty pound flourocarbon, small circle hooks with no sinker and you should do good. Drop a sabiki rig down for whatever live bait is on the tanks and just freeline them for the AJ's. The army tanks over here hold a lot of juvenile jacks but you will get an occaisional keeper with a large live bait. Who's to say you won't catch a grouper around those tanks with a large live or butterflied bait soaking on the bottom.

| There are tons of rigs from about the mouth of Mobile Bay west. Off Ft Morgan you can see them at night and they look like shrimp boats they are so numerous. Just head sw about 8 miles and you should see them. The numbers are on public charts. Not sure about fish though. I assume they have some but I also assume they get hit hard by the fisherman.

Grouper in shallow water? YEP! I caught 2 in less than 10ft water in the keys back in June and a few weeks ago, 3 of us caught about 75-100 in 55ft of water on some concrete rubble. We wer so tired of catching then that every time we would hook up on one, we sould "AH DAMN, another grouper" It was commical. But we really were tired of catching them.
