| I bought a HP steel 120 it came with this weird valve. what is used for..? Is it worth anything to any one?

| Do you have a picture. I'm sure you can get a plug for it and it will fit other than the DIN.

| If it's an HP tank, it should have a 300bar DIN valve on it. You can't use a yoke, and you can't put a plug in it. The HP tanks require a DIN regulator.

| I guess the HP threading wont allow anything but DIN...I guess there is a brass insert but they often break. Thanks for info

| High pressure tanks generally have a "working pressure" of 3500 psi. It is generally accepted that this pressure is too great for a standard yolk regulator. As such, they are normally fitted with a 300bar DIN valve to support the higher pressure. The DIN connection (where the regulator screws into the face of the valve) as oppossed to the standard yolk connection is generally considered to be the safest connection for using HP tanks. The 300bar valve has a "deeper" valve so that when you screw the DIN regulator into this valve you get more thread contact. You also have a "captured" o-ring that is on the end of the regulator itself so that you have much less chance of losing o-ring integrity once the connection is made. There is also a 200bar DIN valve which is shallower, and therefore typically used with tanks of lower pressure. The benefit to a 200bar DIN valve over a 300bar DIN valve is that the 200bar DIN valve can be fitted with a plug that readily converts the DIN valve to a yolk valve so that you can easily go back and forth by simply removing the plug with an alan wrench. Depending on which valve you have (300bar or 200bar) you may be able to put a valve insert into it and convert it to a yolk. Hope this helps. Rich
