| Took the boys to the marina to do some fishing and they picked up a couple of mullet. Being new to the area I decided I would try frying them up so got the oil hot, dipped fillets in egg/milk mixture and then rolled in fish fry mix. They tasted like Mud. Did I do something wrong or do they just taste shitty? Kids had a blast!

If you got them from the river they will not taste good, you cant catch good mullet on a hook. use a cast net in the bay.

Thanks for the laugh, I can always use one. I don't eat mullet and now you know why ! (i'm ready to be crucified for this)

KEEP AN OCCASSIONAL RED HERE AND THERE FOR DINNER, BUT FOR THE REST, PRACTICE HEALTHY CATCH & RELEASE TECHNIQUES SAVE SOME FOR THE FUTURE!

Too many other "good fish" to eat to mess with mullet.

| For me, the only way that mullet are good eating are when they are smoked. Once you have them prepped before placing them in the smoker, its a necessity to apply lots of salt!! The ole Uncles recipe.

| Up the river the mullet live and feed in the mud, so they taste like mud. The mullet that live in the bay and gulf over sand taste much, much better. Almost like too different fish. Try some mullet from some were like Chets in Pensacola, you will like it if you like fish. Charles (Pensacola)

I would rather have the mullet than white trout, speck trout, king, spanish, or ling... Born & Raised on mullet right here, if your not raised here you probably wont like mullet, no soft fish for me....

| We used to catch mullet up escambia river fishing for shellcrackers. They tasted just as you described. That being said mullet caught from anywhere in the intercoastal are the finest fish you could ever put in your mouth if they are fresh. I am lousy with a cast net but I have a friend that brings me mullet from Fort Morgan and they are unbelievable. The only fish I can think of that tastes better is a small black snapper.
