I think you are correct about leaving early. I usually don't leave before the last bit of daylight is gone. But I decided head in early. Next time i will not put in the water until later, instead of 3-4.

I will try both weight and no weight with the gulps. I usually just use live bait, but when the live bait is slim I want to also be able to catch them on artificials.

This weekend is looking pretty choppy out there. I might be out, but right now I am not planning on it just yet.

I went out to 3 mile tuesday also. Got out there at 8p and went in at 12 all i got were 2 good bites and didnt catch a thing the whole night, I was pretty diasappointed. Ive never seen the water so calm out there though.

I have found they change depths, so if your not getting hits with no weight, add some but still dont let it go to the bottom. I throw out short and raise my rod high with the bail open and let it sit 30 secs the pop it and lower your rod tip and again let it sit 20-30 sec. Patience and time is the game with gulp. Glastron is my fishing buddy and he will not even pop it after doing this. Sets the rod down and on scent a lone he gets slammed.

With live bait I have not had luck free lining. Little weight and on the same night you went I hung 2 nice reds with pin fish and fingr mullet.

Leaving around 8 I think was your problem. 8-11 have been prime. Probably fished 7-8 times in the last 2-3 weeks and we have not left with out 1-2 reds, if not 10+

I have used both....so far I have caught more with jig heads but they seem to be changing up their eating habits so give both a try and see what works

Well the fish finder problem is fixed, broken wire near the battery, spliced and good to go. If the weather is decent I will be out there Friday or Saturday night. Maybe both if the weather settles down. See you out there. When you are using the Gulps and the Swim shad, do you use jig heads or just off-set hooks? I caught all of my Reds there with no wait on live bait so I am thinking to use no jig head and just the off-set hook.

Hey at least you tried, and you were on the water! I haven't had alot of luck out there myself when it has been rough. There is always this weekend...I'm thinking about Friday if the weather is nice to me.

3 Mile bridge Tuesday

Got on the water about 4pm, Fish finder didn't even turn on, had plenty of power, all other accessories worked just fine. Anyway I headed to the Bridge, As usual the weather man is off, It was definitely choppy with rollers about 1-2 in the bay. Pinfish free lining, got one big hit then nothing. Did not get another bite the whole time out, after 3 1/2hrs I called it quits and headed in and was off the boat launch and on the road by 8pm. Nothing exciting today on the water.
