ty for the advice im gonna try out some new stuff in the upcoming trips

im trying to move away from using as much live bait and cut strips as i do because id like to get into some tournys that wont let you use that. And its alot nicer just going to your favorite whole and not having to worry bout bait so much

Many times, especially in the fall and winter, redfish and trout are easier to catch in muddy or stained water. Remember, when the water is clear, you can see them but they can also see you.

In muddy and stained(tannic) water I like to use a few things.

1. A dark colored jerkbait in green or black. A chartreuse tail such as those you'll find on a cocohoe minnow also work great. Here's a great trick. For added sound and vibration, I will insert a worm rattle into the plastic. This technique really produces fish.

2. Spinnerbaits with small blades are great when slow rolled in stained water. Same dark colored plastics.

3. Gold spoons produce flash and vibration. Great for redfish in muddy water especially when mullet are present.

4. Mirrodines with the green backs are great. Rattle and flash in muddy water.

When I'm fishin in muddy water for reds, specks, and flounder I generally use something that seems brighter and more flashy from what I use in clear water. Also, when I use live bait I try to always use the most lively baits I can. Both of these tactics seem to work but the bite never is as good as that of clear water. Is there anything else I can do to try and get more bites in a situation where i cant find any clean water?
