Got to the pier about 6 AM. Several guys were in the trough steadily catching pompano. Started raining about 6:30 with strong wind out of the SW. About 8 AM a 30LB king hit the deck out on the Octagon. Shortly thereafter the spanish bite started picking up - They were pretty thick - saw a couple about 4#ers getting hauled up. I caught about 8 getting cut off once. About 9 another king got hooked up but it was lost on the piling - didn't see it but folks said it was about 25#. Spanish bite slowed down a bit and I left around 10:45. Pretty fun for a rainy and windy morning.
