| Okay here comes another quetion I need some of ya all's help with. I have a 30 gallon tank and back in May I filled the tank with fuel/oil mix as required. I ran the motor then and agian in June but havent ran the motor since. I was told that if the mix sets to long that it start jelling up. Now is there something I can add to the mix and it will be fine for the next time I run my outboard with out gumming up my carbs or should I drain the tank and start from fresh. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks Craig

Was fuel stabilizer added to it back in June? If not, I would be dumping that gas and start with new fuel. You may still have issues though with fuel that was left in the carbs. A certain amount of fuel will remain in the carbs and will jelly up in the bottom of the float bowl. After your boat has been sitting for 6 months without fuel stabilizer, you may still need to clean/rebuild the carbs on top of emptying the gas tank.

Get rid of half of the gas and top off tank with premium unleaded. The octane of the fuel degrades over time leading to detonation and pre ignition. Detonation and pre ignition can blow you motor.

STABIL prevents fuel from gumming up, varnishing, and turning sour. It does not prevent the octane value from degrading. There presently is not a chemical on the market that preserves octane rating. There is plenty of octane boosters on the market but a lot of are harsh to the fuel system.
