Hello all from Dhaka,
Notwithstanding what happened to the Gulf Coast as a result of Ivan and then Katrina, in my entire life I have never witnessed such an agonizing occurrence as that of the cyclone that has hit here in Bangladesh. For a country that has so little by our standards, it is just absolutely catastrophic what this storm has done to the southern region. It is one thing to read the reports but it is quite another to see the photos that are now beginning to arrive via the photo journalists. It is so very heart wrenching, it is truly beyond one's imagination.
With great pride, today I stood on my daughter's roof top along with Liton and John, her driver and yardman, and watched and listened to the roar of U.S. jets streaking across the sky as they shuttled relief supplies into the Dhaka airport. And the phrase "God bless America" took on a whole new meaning.
While celebrating Thanksgiving this year and giving thanks for all of your blessings, please take a minute and offer up your prayers for the Bangladeshi people who are in such desperate need.
Sincerest regards,
Bob
