I've wanted a Mini-X ever since they came out but was waiting on what was supposed to be a deal on the latest Emotion.  The Emotion deal never transpired so I bought a Mini-X with nothing installed---just the bare yak.  Now I can have a yak finished "Myyyy Waaaay."

I've never used my hatch other than for access and I can definitely live without the 3 they install in the Mini.  Ditto for the rodholders.  I'll use my own design that are far more practical and in the right place to boot.

With the past 2 yaks, I gained experience in rudder design and this next one will be the best yet.  I'll probably stay with the lawn chair seat but this time I'll paint the chair to match the seat.  I'll definitely have an anchor pulpit and my anchor will have a quick release and buoy.

I got the granite color.

I'm surprised you didn't get the hobie sport.
Can't wait to see what you do to your new kayak.

There were 4 reasons really.  The big one was how bad the seating position in the Hobie hurts me.  Second, 90% of the places I fish are less than 4' deep with lots of rocks and oysters above the surface or just below.  The fins would be torn up in a hurry.  Third, considerably more than $1000 price difference.  (I was sworn to secrecy about what I actually paid for mine.)  And 4th, I really wanted a yak I could start rigging from scratch and photograph the process for my Kayak book.

Hobies are not terribly popular down here, especially with fishermen.

I'm gonna try to get a little kayak fishing in "Marijuana Dreaming."
