Played hookey for a while this morning. Wind was supposed to be from the SE so I launched at the N side of GB thinking it would be protected. Weatherman must have been smoking crack again... wind was from NE. Water was pretty rough so I headed around the point to get out of the wind.

Fished the grass beds with Gulps and Mirrolures but only caught 1 legal spec. About 9:00 the wind calmed a bit and I decided to troll back twards the bridge. I forgot my Stretch 25's in the truck. All I had were a couple of those $2 Walmart plugs but figured they would work.

I was right. About 1/2 way between Fair Point and the bridge, my left rod goes off. Line starts screaming off of my reel. I was using my inshore rods so I didnt have much line to burn so I turned around to gain some line back. About that time my other rod goes off. Luckily the 2nd one was smaller and went the other direction. I fought the 1st fish for at least 15 minutes before I even got a glimpse of him. It was another 15 min or so before I got him in. He was longer than my lawstick by several inches and completely exhausted. I revived him as quick as I could and then started fighting the other one. I think he was tired from being dragged around for 30 minutes so he came in much faster (only 5 - 10 min fight). He was well over 30".

Afetr that I trolled over to the bridge and loaded up the cooler with white trout. The bite slowed around noon and I decided to troll back twards the truck. Half way back, bait started busting the surface and I trolled through the school. Bam... another red. After about a 15 minute fight I had another 30+ red at my side. Took a pic and safely released him as well.

After that I headed for home to clean the white trout.
