I have a Key West 2300, lately we seem to be running farther and farther out to fish the deeper waters.  I have been reading about and considering adding an autopilot to my boat.  The prices seem to be getting better and the designers are now looking at making them for smaller boats.

Definitely want one I can program for different troll patterns, looking for the most for the dollar.  My electronic are Lowrance and they are network ready.  Recommendations?

The TR-1 Gladiators have had the best raves by people that own them.

I have never used one, but know people who have them.

i like the one offered by ray marine, it is very responsive and holds a great straight line for trolling...

A buddy of mine had a Ray unit and he could steer the boat a straighter course by hand. This was from 1995, so things have changed I'm sure.
He was good. I have yet to see anyone hold a straighter course than this fellow.

Yet I'm not a Raymarine fan at all. I refuse.

Screw me once shame on you. Screw me twice shame on me. Raymarine will never get a 2nd chance.

I've used several and have a new Ray I installed on the Luhr's last year that works great but I think by far the best out there is the Gladiator (TR-1).  We talked with Nautamatic and several guys using the TR-1 a couple of yrs ago at the Miami boat show and I think they are the best when it comes to CC application. Garmin ended up buying Nautamatic last year.  The biggest problem is the way they are designed, it's twin rams and everything that the last time I checked was about $4500 for a twin outboard application.......

It was only $1200 for the Ray on the Luhrs with twin diesels.
