| I was up to my usual weekend afternoon routine today that many of you are familiar with because of my earlier posts- on an island across from Galvez Landing. I had my niece, my sister, my girlfriend, and my grandmother with me. We had a good time swimming, listening to the radio in the boat, grilling burgers on the portable grill, and fishing. I wasn't serious about the fishing- just fished out of a sand spike with my trout rod. Used a sliding sinker/live finger mullet combination. 1 skipjack and 2 trout, one of which was decent. I had the rod like 50 feet away from where we beached because I was trying to fish my mullet on sandy bottom adjacent to grass. Those of you who actually catch fish know why. Here's a succession of photos for y'all...
That fish was pretty small and of course I let it go. Then I started playing catch with my niece...note my PFF T shirt!
I rebaited with another finger mullet and got a decent speck...

So that fish was more than 20 inches but I really don't know how big- not real huge. Anyway, here's the reason we went...
My niece had fun!
