I am coming down from Atlanta on friday, I plan on fishing on sunday and monday morning.  I have 7 year old and 5 year old boys that i would love to see their faces when they bring in a fish!  I stay near Garcon Bridge, but would go anywhere; the pass, the bay, the gulf or the sound.  What would you fish?

Fishing in the bay has been good this week, the pass as well. But the weather may be bad on the days you wanted to go, but if the weather permits i would take those boys inshore, if the bite stays on they will have a good time.

There is a park at the end of the Garcon Point Bridge on the Garcon Point side.

Get some live and fresh dead shrimp and take the boys there.  Carolina rig small hooks and catch some small bait fish wiht hte fresh dead shrimp.  Then hook one of them up to a little bigger set up and throw it in the channel.

Use the live shrimp at the mouth of the canal.

The boys will love catching the bait and you two chances tocathch something you can take home!

You will enjoy it.  I have had success on flounder near the bridgee pillars on the lee side.

Good luck

I would keep a close eye on the weather and make a decision once I saw what it was going to do.

I was down there from Atlanta 2 weeks ago and fished Garcon Bridge exclusively (due to choppy water).

If you aren't worried about what kind of fish you are catching, and just want to see the kids pull in some fish, there were alot of sailcats out there.  We netted some small menhaden for bait (most were dead by the time we started fishing).

We would pull under the middle of the bridge next to the fenders and then just drift from there.  We were using either 1/4 oz jig heads or a lightly weighted carolina rig baited with the small menhaden.  We caught about 15 sail cats (very large ones), a shark and several white trout.  Not what I was after at all but it was enjoyable and would be great for kids.

You could consider the  US Park @ Naval live Oaks in Gulf Breeze. Wade with some popping corks , Cajun Thunder, etc, with short leaders, 14" to 18" and live shrimp or gulp shrimp. Early will be better than later. Look for the edges of the  sandy potholes to limit the pinfish pecking away on yourt baits

Good luck

Would that be on the bay or sound side?

Thanks everone.  Today was a sucess.  We boated about 30 fish in about 3 hours.  We went to garcon bridge found some bait on the sonar and anchored up.  Caught mostly catfish, some white trout and two crokers.  The boys had a great time.  Lots of smiles!  I also brought 2 year old and he even caught a few.  Everything was small, but in the boys eyes "it was cool"  I spent mosty of my time baiting hooks, untangleing reels, but loved every minute.  I will let you all know what we do on monday....

Thanks
