Litte too rough to get out in the boat today, so headed down to the beach this morning.  Rough there too but have to try. Found a bunch of sand fleas, set the rods up, and sat back and waited.

Nothing for 30-40 minutes. Get up to go check my other rod, happen to look back at this one and see it and the sand spike toppling into the water, then the whole rig just takes off out to sea. Only 10 yards away but by the time i got there, it was gone. Had tightened my drag when i washed them off the day before, never reset it. The sand spike was hammered in good too.

So, if anyone finds a gold rod with a Silstar reel on it near the old Crystal Beach pier in Destin, would be interested in what is on the other end.  Stayed around for an hour looking and dragged the beach with the other rod, but nothing, long gone.  Lesson learned.

What kind of bait did you have on that rod?

"Fish Like You're Hungry!"

"Eat More Fish!"

I was using sand fleas I had caught there on a 2 hook Pompano rig with a spider sinker at the bottom. Cast between the inner and outer sandbar.
