Does anyone know if Port Eds marina is up and running. If so what is their phone number. Thanks

Port Eads Update as of June 2012

The FEMA funded Port Eads Marina renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in November 2012, is well on its way to being a top notch marina again. Construction on Port Eads began last year after a long appeals process put forth by Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, All South Consulting Engineers representative Jens Nielson, and Governor Bobby Jindal’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

“Crews are currently finalizing construction on the interior marina piers and boardwalk connecting 2 camps in South Pass to the interior marina and icehouse facilities. The elevated structure of the camps, icehouse, and supporting facilities are currently in progress,” says Jarret Bauer of All South Consulting Engineers.

FEMA initially denied Plaquemines Parish’s application for funding to repair Port Eads which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Port Eads was a popular fuel stop and harbor for deep water vessels, commercial fishermen, and oil industry vessels before Hurricane Katrina. FEMA gave Plaquemines Parish $8.8 million to complete the project.
