Default Offshore Venice..Super Strike Charters

The offshore fishing has been incredible the past couple of weeks to say the least. Most people that book trips with us ask when is the best time to go fishing for certain species, but most people mainly ask about tuna. Well, it is getting to the point that you need not ask because were not sure. Going back 10 years you could pattern the fish much easier than today. You knew that certain months usually produced certain species and that is what you should fish for during that time of the year. Well, it has certainly changed over the past several years when it comes to tuna fishing. If someone asked me which month during 2013 produced the most tuna, so far, it is definitely July. The catches in July so far have surpassed the 2013 winter months as far as consistency goes, though weather was a big problem this past year, and those are supposed to be our best months for tuna. Well, not in 2013. So I will say that if August-September, which are usually some of the better months for Tuna, and the bite stays as consistent as it is now, or possibly get even better, then it is going to be a very good fall fishing for Tuna. During the month of June we were mainly catching snapper and cobia, due to dirty water, no current, and a lack of pelagics offshore. There were some good days out chasing Tuna but nothing like what is going on now. When July rolled around the Yellow fin tuna have really shown up. The conditions got just right and sure enough, the tuna fishing really turned on. They are not just here and there but they seem to be at just about any deep-water platform you go to. The size range has been all over the place. Some spots are holding 30-60lb. Yellow fin while others are holding mostly 80-150lb. Tuna. They have definitely shown up that is for sure. Hopefully it stays this way for a while. The weather hasnít been bad either, a little more wind than usual for this time of the year, but still calm most days. So right now, the main species we are catching offshore is Tuna. There are a few Mahi Mahi and bill fish mixed in but mostly Yellow fin tuna. We really havenít been fishing reef fish species but the Mangrove snapper and cobia should be plentiful. In August, we will start to fish for Amberjack again when the season reopens. We have days left open to fish in July and August, mostly weekdays, so if your looking to get offshore, the fishing is very good right now.
