Default Memorial Day Gator and other suprises

Finally made it to the grass flats Monday morning an hour late after already being lazy and sleeping in on Sunday. The morning started off with a hell of a surprise when a 3-4ft shark came out of the water hitting my Skitterwalk not 10ft from the kayak. Unfortunately, the 10lb line didn't hold and he is now wearing it. The next hour or so it was a skipjack here or small trout there. Drifted a spot where I caught several undersized trout that were grunting hard when removing the hook. I remember somebody telling me trout spawn all year round and when you find a group of grunting males you will a big female. Well sure enough, a few drifts later and I ended up with the big girl below at a little over 25" weighting a little over 5lb. I did not have a net so I beached the yak and grabbed her from the shore. Largest fish to date out of the yak and PB speck. Drifted over the same spot a few more time to catch few more trout. I started heading back around 11am. I caught all trout casting distance from the shore using both a mirrodines and mirrolure 3" sardines. BTW, when cleaning large trout it had a 4" lizard fish in its belly. I didnt know anything would eat them inshore.
