Default first actual trip

hit big lagoon around lunch yesterday, dark clouds and lots of lighting. waited and it dissapated and the water was perfectly flat all the way across, no luck on the national seashore side exept one cat, then went to the stat park side and had a blast. cant wait for next time! also is the third from last pic a mangrove or some type of snapper?

John,
Excellent report. It's funny. I have always been a big boat person but since I borrowed a friends kayak, I have been catching fish like it's nothing. I have 2 months left on this one (Friend had surgery so I'm using her Cobia fish n dive) but I bought my wife a 10' last week and we went together for the 1st time yesterday and she had a blast. The fish were biting (caught a 20" trout), weather was fine, etc... I actually put down the rod and started looking at the back of houses like my wife and it was fun. I'm waiting to launch at NAS because I have caught many grouper near by and want to try my luck with trolling in a yak...

it is a mangrove snapper, so you were right twice! We call em black snapper too. Delicious little jokers.

Yup Mangrove it is. Legal if over 10" and they are tasty little buggers
