Default Oil invades naval live oaks

Took the kayak out to Naval Live Oaks yesterday and got a slap in the face, an oily slap. As far as I could see both ways down the shoreline was coated with oil. And as I paddled out all the june grass that was brought in by the tide was absolutely covered in oil, at one point I found a huge clump of what looked to be june grass floating and as a came closer it was grass at all but a 2-3 pound "tar ball" just floating around. Where are all the BP crews when we need them.

This is a shocker!!!! If you haven't already done so this should be reported to the local BP and county/state office dealing with all this. It probably needs some press attention as well just to get something done.

Sad to say, but getting some news cameras on it would probably be the best chance of getting a timely response.

We have the warm ocean water microbes but biodegradation doesn't happen over night. The oil will be with us for a while.

omg... yall are too dramatisized!

You dont think of how many gallons of oil are on your roads, how many nasty garbage trucks spreading bacteria throughout the county running after rainy days spilling from trucks... but let me find a friggin tar ball....

No wonder the media sells....

Where is your concern for the waste water from the Main street plant, or the Pace stink me out of town Woodbine plant.... toss in some International paper drains... These are direct concerns DAILY, and have been fopr many years but no one bitches about them....

I guess Im the only one who sees the problems close to home. Maybe Im wrong or maybe Im not, If your concerned for the environment you wouldnt ride the only boat with the most media attention. If its not an issue Id like to see you drink some of the water from the plants which is perfectly safe.... if you can get the thought of my turd being churned into PPM and then a swallow.... See I have a big problem with that....

Anyone get any pics/video? These things carry a lot more weight when there is photographic evidence! I hardly know anyone that dosen't have a camera on something they own anymore.
I'd be glad to document legitimate problems..... we need to know whats goin on in our waters...but it does get me a little steamed when I hear about oil here and oil there..no pics......and I've been to those places, and saw nothing.
Come on guys! You know it didn't happen unless you saw it on the news! get the proof, the media is the only true power we have left in this country, even though most of that is screwed up too.

Come on now OIL?? No way that could be.. BP said the oil is all gone beaches are clean and the little tiny bit that was left would be gone soon enough by the natural process of things so what you seen had to be from a boater or someone dumping oil out in our bays cause BP has their oil problem under control and have cleaned up our area enough for the out of towners to want to come here and spend all there money. Hell thats what its all about out of towners spending money at the beach..... What you should have done is drug it to the beach and kicked some sand on it then out of towner wouldnt see it (BP's way). Being you most likely live here what you see,say or do really doesnt matter. BP has all of this under control they have assured us... Our area is clean...
