Question

First off, I have never owned a handgun before so all the details pertaining to interstate shipping of handguns is new territory for me. Having read everything above (and elsewhere), I still have a question pertaining to the transfer of a handgun from North Carolina to Florida. My Dad wants to simply give me - not sell, loan, or lend to me - a Browning 9mm. From what I gather, a purchase would require me to have him ship it to someone with an FFL here in Pensacola. Do the same restrictions/rules apply to a gift/transfer as to a sale? If so, what is an average fee an FFL holder would charge for this service? Just trying to determine the correct way to do this. Thanks for any help you might give!

Yes it still has to go through a FFL regardless if its bought, a gift, traded, etc.

Default Did Not See

Sorry if I missed it, but seems that I did not see any procedure or language that a buyer/seller would use to indicate that an item is SOLD.

I find that in/on most forums the positive indication that a buyer is comitted is a post that states....."I'LL TAKE IT". I find here that alot of people like to post...
* Very interested
* I would like/need that
* I'll PM you
* What I am looking for
* Etc.Etc.Etc

I do not feel that any of these confirms a buy. Niether does a PM,Email,phone call or anything else on a PUBLIC forum as is this. If the potential buyer wants to post a "I'll Take It" then do any of the above,I can surely understand that.

Forum admin or mods,please give us/me some clearity in this matter.
Thanks for your attention. ---SAWMAN

"2. Get a copy of their driver license and another ID. In order to buy a handgun, you must be at least 21 and you must be at least 18 to purchase a long gun."

This is only true if you are buying from an FFL from the research I've done. In the state of Florida it is legal for anyone between 18-20 to buy a handgun via private, face to face sales as long as they are a resident of Florida. If you Google the age in Florida to own a handgun, everywhere it will say 18 for private sales or gifts. Here are some links I found that I would like to share that give information in regards to this:

To carry a concealed handgun you must have a concealed weapons permit. Otherwise it is completely legal to have one in a carrying case or in your home if you are 18.

If you can disprove this by showing me a case or by pointing out in the law where it specifically says this is incorrect, I would thank you for educating me. I also recommend contacting an attorney rather than the Sheriff's office or an FFL if you were to ask someone about this.

I just wanted to share this with you. Thank you for your time.

I believe and I'm pretty sure if you go up to see him, and he signs over the gun to you , or sells it for $1.00 w/ paperwork that he sold it to you, you do not need an FLL holder to do the transfer for you. The gun is then yours, you drive back w/ your possesions and done. If you choose to have the gun shipped to you, you must go thru an FFL holder. ( they charge 20.00 -25.00 and 5.00 background check. Hope it helps. fg1fg4

Too much regulation!! How many of these laws do you think criminals obey? They only affect us who follow the rules. It's retarded.

They are just a step in the direction of taking all of our weapons.

You've got to be kidding? Your making this way more difficut than it needs to be. Go see Dad, Dad gives you firearm, you tuck firearm in a zippered case, and happily take "your" firearm home. End of story.
