I don't venture in here too often. After reading for a while, I see why. I don't think 3/4 of you are here for the Politics. I think you are here to express your hate toward political figures and each other. Threats of violence, trolls, your little racial hate rants and things of that sort. Some of it is downright disturbing. Plenty of intelligent language too. I am going to ask that you clean it up somewhat. I know a few of you are here JUST to argue. I don't mind culling you out. This section was created to talk about politics. It has drifted pretty far from that. The Sara Palin thread is fixing to be gone. The content of that is EXACTLY what I am talking about. Remember, this is a PUBLIC forum. Chris created a Fishing Forum. Not your little private playground for bullshit. You want to discuss politics? Good! Debate is fine. Personal threats and all that other kind of crap has got to stop. And I promise you, it will. If all you want to do is talk a bunch of shit, find another site.

Amen downtime2.... now if you could (assist) folks to post in the proper categories we'd really be making some progress. See the 'tattoo' and 'best restaurant' threads in General (Fishing) Discussion. Many on those (2) threads see your rules as a joke.

It's good to see there actually (is) an Admin!

I still frequent a professional forum which focused on the career field from which I am now retired and we have a small cadre of immature men-children on there who do this same thing. They waste more time being vindictive and rude to others than they have business to attend to and the owner of that forum is, at this very time, doing some major house cleaning!!

His take on the situation is

1. He pays for the site, does the maintenance, and keeps everything running in a fairly smooth manner.

2. If you don't like his rules, which he has stated on the header of each separate forum, then leave. ................ Period.

3. The other day he mentioned that the forum is not the place for demanding full disclosure of anyone's affiliation with participating businesses or suppliers. That has always been voluntary and IMHO, should remain that way.

One guy said "I may take a vacation from this forum since "so and so" feels that he should "manipulate" the wishes of the "majority"!

His reply? .......... "That's nice, let me help you take that vacation." ................ And he banned that guy for a month!! We all gave a rousing high five for his prompt and deserving actions. This guy's idea of the "majority" was this same small group of rabble rousers who think that they can control the conversations in the various forums and bad mouth whomever they please with no reserve and start arguments simply for the sake of arguing.

The characteristics of these "little child-men" include seeing how much they can push someone before they react in some kind of defensive manner. It is just insecurity on the instigator's part along with a certain amount of "safety of anonymity" on the internet and they should be dealt with by warning at the first sign of being nasty. After that, the administrators should be allowed to pull the plug on them as the rest of us who come here for the pleasure of reading about other fishermens' experiences or to see what is current in equipment or laws or such things as this oil disaster really don't like to see the threads polluted with someone else's verbal garbage.

(The information on the oil disaster I think was very informative and well handled by most of the contributors IMHO.)

Calling these jerks out should be the FIRST step in getting this and all the other forums cleaned up and focused on the intent of the particular forum. The moderators and the administration should also have the responsibility to remove those people who persist in demeaning others or creating arguments for the fun of it. That accomplishes nothing and is of little value to the rest of us who are here to enjoy the forums.

Thanks for bringing this sore and touchy subject up downtime. I for one appreciate the chance to speak out on this distraction.

OK, I guess the date makes the concept acceptable. Sorry to take up so much of your valuable time with trivialities.

I just thought it needed to be said.

Why are you cluttering the political forum with this discussion?

I thought this thread was locked.
