Default FAQ FOR NEWBIES

I see a lot of people asking questions, that have probably been asked before. I am one of them. Things like "what is top water", "What is an ly", "what kind of jig/leader/weight/rod/line do I need for..."

I would suggest a "sticky" thread like on many other forums. This would bea thread that always shows at the top of the forum. It would have FAQs, Glossaries, Tips, etc, that are contributed by respected members of the forum. Additions and modificationswould be approved by the moderators or board owners only.

The "Search PFF" function on the top right of the screen allows you to search the site for key words or phrases. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site in the form of past discussions. Just use the search function to find the discussions that pertain to what you're wanting to do.

fiver is right...the search button is great. make sure you goto the old forum and search there also.....many many years of knowledge there.

Don't hesitate to ask questions. I for one have no problem answering the same question a few times a year. after all most of us are here to help each other out

I agree with JOSH on everything he posted.

The old fourm has a lot more fishing knowledge on it. You would be surprised how many lat and longs of fishing spots are located on the two forums also.

Search is GREAT.

Thanks for the help guys. I have been using the search function religiously. Im wearing it out in fact

Some things are hard to search for though, butI am searching the new forum. I'll give the old a shot.

I was just thinkingthis could help some other folks out, as well as me. I am also a stereo/video nut, and they haveseveral topics that are posted in each forum on avsforum that go through the "basics" so its all congealed in one convenient place. In addition to making it more user friendly, it doesnt put so much demand on the server having to do searches all the time for things that many people look for. Displaying a page is much less demand on the server than querying a large mysql database
