So I basically have to catch a part of the wreck.? It obviously will not hold in sand right?

They are designed to catch on the wreck/rocks.

NO, they normally won't hold in the sand. It is a "specialized" anchor for a specific purpose.

But if you pull up on a wreck, figure out the drift then motor past the wreck and drift back over it it should catch. Sometimes it take a few tries. Sometimes, especially in rougher seas it'll break loose, especially if your boat is a bit bigger. But it worked on my "bigger" 26' Shamrock (heavy boat) most of the time. I did not have this brand, but a similar model.

It works VERY well, but it takes some practice and is not perfect.

Once you are hooked take up the slack and leave the anchor rode tight. Again, wave action all by itself may pull the tines straight.

To release, give it a lot of slack, then pull up fast.

Even then the anchor may not release and you'll have to pull the anchor free.

NEVER cleat the anchor rode to the back of your boat, people have died here locally doing this. Always cleat to the bow. If you cleat to the stern, then use the engine to try to pull an anchor loose, stretch the anchor rode, then come back to idle, the boat will suddenly lurch backward and take in water over the transom. It's possible to swamp the boat doing exactly this.

NEVER anchor by the stern, or especially try to pull and anchor by cleating astern. NEVER!

A Wreck answer should always pull free, but if the shaft is caught instead of the tines it is possible to swamp your boat by cleating off at the stern.

Then you'll need some device to recurve the tines. I countersunk a stainless steel eyebolt in the middle of a 30" piece of pressure treated 2"x 4". You can use cleats on your boat, but it'll probably scratch the heck out of the fiberglass.

It IS a GREAT tool while fishing, just be aware of how it should be used.
