I was a pirate radio dealer back in the day when CB radios was the thing to have. Now The antenna you want is called a Firestick top load antenna that is 8ft long an you will need a good spring attached to the base. The top load antenna will change your power output. Meaning with a stainless steel whip your power out put will be at the base of antenna. With a topload you will get what is known as reverse tear drop effect that means all your transmitting power goes out the top. Increasing your transmission and reception capability.
As for added power you don't need a big linear. You will need a modulator V-plus.As for SSB (single side ban)You will need the Vplus with that capability. Make sure your radio is turned down to 1 watt or less then hook up the V-plus .Your dead key on microphone is 1 watt but when you start talking it will peg out at 100 watts and at 1 watt per mile you will be able to transmitt over 100 miles and recieve same without Skip(bouncing radio waves off Ozone) As for a radio find one that covers a wide signal band like . AM,FM ,SSB As for channels this will give you 480 of them. This will cover Ham frequencies,SSB and Emergency frequencies. Now I do know that some fishing boats use SSB in AM and FM frequencies as well as Coast guard monitors as well. The old Truklodyte with my two watt Walkie talkie with a coat hangar stuck in the back kickback hello! Seeyah later |
