If you want to fish rigs you'll want to drive over the state line to Gulf shores, Al and launch down west beach or Ft. Morgan. The closest ones are off Ft. morgan. The closest one to gulf shores is about 4.5 miles off the beach and i can personally tell you it is not all that fun to come back from in a north wind in a kayak.

Good way to die without a support boat or a hell of a lot of touring experience. Although a Tarpon T160i would be just the ticket for fighting that north wind.:angel

Hey if its calm enough and you want to go to the rigs let me know and I'll go with you, unless I have to work.

I've seen kayaks on Paradise Hole, Three Barges, and the 96 Hole on several occasions. On a good day it's probably doable, but it doesn't look like the conditions will be favorable for a while. Gotta tell ya, when I pulled up onthe Paradise Hole and saw two kayak fishermen I was quite surprised. :hotsun

Offshore kayaking is definitely something you do when you know the weather is going to be decent; if thats possible. There are some decent grouper on a lot of the close in wrecks right now but that wind just won't lay down.
