Default Transducer location

I have a Prowler Trident with a transducer compatible scupper, but I think it would be safer to locate it in the hull. Any suggestions? Will I get the same effectiveness from mounting it in the hull?

Not sure about the transducer compatable scupper, but mine is mounted in the hull, it works great and is out of the way.

Try to mount it somewhere under your seat. I originally mounted mine further forward under my feet thinking that it would be safer up there and avoid getting bumped by anything. It worked fine but that portion of the hull actually comes out of the water in a heavy chop and would would disrupt the image on the screen. It gave a big black line whenever it lost contact with the water.

It might be a reach, but it's a great suggestion. Thanks.

Mounting the transducer inside the hullis fine. The signal shoots through the plastic hull with no problem. I agree with Brian, try to mount it as close to the center of the boat as possible. There are some links on our home page under the "Rigging" link that show how to do this. The most important point is to make sure there are no air bubbles between the transducer and the hull. I use Marine Goop to glue the transducer to the hull. Warm it up in some hot water first and it will flow very easily and ensure no bubbles. It sets quickly and lasts a long time. Let it cure for 24 hours...

I think the transducer location in the Trident is pretty far aft and may interfere with other stuff you put in the tankwell, but it probably works fine and there is no argument about having the transducer in the water...
