Default Tandem fishing Yak question?

Need some advice:

Anyone out there ever used the Lifetime 10 tandem yak? I've been going solo for a bit. I'm looking for something that I can get my kids on the water fishing with me. Any advice would be nice... there's some deals out there on the Lifetime and before I drop the cash, I'm open for any input.

Thanks...

I've no experience with the Lifetime kayaks, but a 10 ft tandem seems small for 2 to fish on comfortably. If you're fishing shallow, flat waters and the kids are small, might be ok.

I realize the difference in price, but if you can afford the coin, a Hobie Outfitter would seem hard to beat. I know of a few people that fish solo from Outfitters.

yeah...im thinking youd get tired of being cramped pretty quickly and would be looking to upgrade. i guess it depends on where you are going but, i'd look into a 12 at the least. 2 people...+ gear

I used to have a Ocean Kayak Malibu tandem. It was more expensive but extremely roomy, comfortable and stable.

I don't have any experience with the lifetime kayaks

I looked this up - never heard of Lifetime. I will second Chris V - for just a little bit more money you can get an Ocean Kayak Malibu II (12 ft) or Malibu II XL (13'4") which is a much better boat. A 10 ft tandem is very small... The OK Malibus can be paddled in tandem or sit in the center and paddle solo. Academy has an OK Malibu II for sale. Or go to Pensacola Kayak and Sail to demo either boat... OK Malibus are VERY stable, well designed and will last forever. Plus, you would have no problem selling it should you ever choose to. Personally, I would wave off on the Lifetime.

Make sure you have a place for fishing crates and/or a place to mount rod holders if you're going to use the kayak for fishing. It might be better to pay a little more up front to get a bigger kayak that can handle the extra items you take out when fishing.

Thanks for all the responses! Great advice..... probably gonna wave off on the lifetime.

Just like the one that got away, I missed out on a great deal yesterday. friend of mine emailed a bunch of us selling tandem ocean yak w/paddles for 200. Of course it went quick. bad time to not be checking email. That got me looking for tandem.
