Hi guys, freshwater kayakfisher from MS coming to P-cola 7/10-7/12 for the air show and want some info on where to rent a yak (or borrow one) so I can try the saltwater experience for a few hours. I'll be staying close to the pier off pensacola beach. If anyone is gonna be in that area, I'd like to meet up with you and see how your yak is rigged and what type stuffI might need to get. I just want to wet a hook for a few hrs.
Is there a Pensacola kayak (fishing) club like Mobile bay has? Can you share the website? Thanks jake |

You can check this site out https://www.gulfcoastkayakfishing.co...egory-view.aspalso as far as renting when you first get over the bridge on your left, past all the picnic tables you will see Key Sailing - I'm prety sure they rent yaks http://www.keysailing.com/keysail/

hey jake.
i wouldnt recommend fishing too close to pcola pier this time of year. the pier rats will fling all sort of gear at you. gotcha plugs and ling lures, make for a shitty day. i would offer to go with you and supply a yak , but unfortunately have other plans. sorry girlfriends b-day and she wants to go on the river. maybe next time your in town i can help you out. im sure someone on here can get you hooked up. good luck and tight lines. Capt. Ollie, Bloody Waters Kayak Fishing Team.

Thanks Linda and Ernie for your info.I checked out key sailing and they might be just whatI need. And thanks Capt. Ollie,I understand about the timing thing. I'm TRYING to sneak a little kayak fishing into a tight schedule ( air show with the wife )lol. I might end up just checking out the tackle and gear on the pier if nothing better works out.
I've gotten a reply from a member on the forum ( PM sent ) so I'll see what works out with that. Again thanks for your help with this. It will be a good scouting trip to the area and I'll know a little more about what everyone is posting about at the very least. Maybe next trip can be a dedicated kayak fishing trip. |

I'll be fishing that weekend. Don't know where yet but if I'm off the beach you're welcome to join me. Only have one yak so unfortunately can't offer you a lender. I'm thinking about going to Navarre though since I keep hearing good things about it.
I also want to scout the area because I may take my Dad out there in a borrowed tandem in a couple weekends when he comes into town for a visit. If you feel like making the drive all the way over there send me a PM. It'll probably be really early before the beach gets packed either Sat or Sunday morning. Heck, maybe both if I have time. Also, FYI, the pier is REALLY crowded on the weekends this time of year. If you go out there go EARLY and leave by 10ish to minimize getting a gotcha for an ear-ring. Good luck and have fun with whichever you choose to do, Alex |

whatever you do, do it early - the traffic to the beach this weekend will be unbelievable. Ollie is right about getting too close the pier, not a recommended idea. Blues usually fly about 2 pm. Getting a rental yak from Key Sailing is a good idea, you can go towards Ft. Pickens early, get some fishing in and then watch the air show.
