There was such great feedback when we we had 3 King/Tarpon tournaments at Navarre Beach that I wanted to do it again. <SPAN id=_ctl1_ctlTopic_ctlPanelBar_ctlTopicsRepeater__c tl1_lblFullMessage>The informal kayak fishing tournamentswere $10 per person, winner takes all for the largestKing Mackerelin length. However, if someone caught a tarpon and provided a digital image at yak-side, that person wins. If needed, the most tarpon wins. Atarpon tie splits the winnings. (The Tarpon were scare at Navarre Beach last year, but I had hooked 3 the year before.) It was just scheduled in the morning and it was great to get to meet some other yackers that I had never met before.
Here are the dates with 3 different formats all at Navarre Beach: May 8-NB Cobia/King Kayak Tournament-same deal as the tarpon rule above, but it must be a keeper size and brought in for a measure. May 29-NB King-O-Kings Kayak Tournament-King Only July 24-NB Tarpon/King-same format as last summer and the week before the King of Crab Island Tournament. I think these are dates you can mark on your calendar barring a festival covering up the NB parking lot or bad surf or weather. It is just a way to get somepeople together at one of the best kayakKing Mackplaces areas around. This is an atyour own riskget-together. Just let me know if you plan to fish at least one of these. $10 each and we will plan do a 50/30/20 split if we get enough interest. By the way, if you could go to the following link to express your interest in a 30-day long King Mack on-line KBF tournament, then enoughinterest may show one could be done each month which would coincide with these NB tournaments. http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/kbfb...f&start=10 Here are the links to last year's NB King/Tarpon tournament results: http://fishthebridge.com/fishingforu...4276-44-1.aspx http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com...pon+tournament http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com...pon+tournament

Sounds like fun. Do you suppose the opening of the new pier is going to affect the launch area?

Glad you will be back at it again for this year, Nick! We will just launch at the East end of the Parking lot instead whenever the pier is ready.

We should approach the county to alter one of the beach access boardwalks at the park. Straighten the 90 degree at the end of one or angle it where we can make the turn. There are more and more folks fishing kayaks, it would be nice to have an easy access. The tourneys are great, tourney or not I want a tarpon this year. The later date works best for me. See you on the water.

Glad to see you enjoyed it and want to do it again, Will. Do you still have your sit-in kayak? I think you are a little crazy taking that thing in the gulf, but you did well catching some fish in it. (I think that was you thatthe sit-in.)

Yes, that is a definitely an issue at the park. You are one heck of a fisherman and I don't doubt that you will get you a poon this year! See you out there!

I tried to work the dates around local tournaments. Well, there is a new tournament this year that was just announced that is on May 1st that has a kayak division!!! (Kayak divisions are rare around here, but they may catch onafter the success of the PRFA tournament last Sept.) It is a redfish tournament that has an interesting format that even a non-inshore guy like me might have a chance at.
Post on this thread below if you are interested. It is called Spots and Slots Redfish Tournament: http://pensacolafishingforum.com/fis...5101-35-1.aspx So, I'm thinking May 8th on the NB Cobia/King tournament instead. Kreg
