Now that hunting season is over its I'm finally starting to get all of my kayak equipment back together. During the snow day I had off of work last friday I got bored and decided to build a livewell, and yes i did steal some ideas and it will look very familar to other livewells posted on the forum. The componets are pretty simple, 48 quart cooler, 360gph bilge pump, 12v sealed batter, waterproof box, some plastic hardware and wireing and marine sealant. The only thing not shown in the photosare the straps to hold it in place. It will hold around 7 gallons so I should be able to tote more than enough cigs or a couple of my large trout baits. Ready to get on the water and try it out now.

It was to tough for me to come off $250 for a livewell, when I added up all my receipts for partsI spent a total of $112.67 for everything including a new battery charger

Dang Chris! You weren't kidding about hitting it hard this year. With the livewell you're set to go. Good stuff

That is a good design. Very similar to the two I have built. One bit of advice. Slip a pool noodle over your intake tube. It will pad the tube and prevent the pump from banging against your yak and scaring everything away. Place it close to the pump but still let the pump head submerge.
Good luck catching with live bait. Ted |
